Structural conditions in science
The structural conditions and organisational conditions are of fundamental importance for the development of research cultures. In Berlin, these are closely linked to the Federal Government's Excellence Strategy and the measures of the Berlin University Alliance, which aim to shape the Berlin research area. However, the structural conditions are not only determined by the Berlin institutions or the BUA; there are also overarching and national structures that can only be modified to a limited extent by the local institutions. Here, too, it is important to obtain the views of the respondents in order to provide a holistic picture of what is going well and not so well in science. Therefore, we show the evaluation of the structural conditions in Germany first. Then, the conditions in the Berlin research area are considered, and finally, the role of the Berlin University Alliance for the Berlin research area is examined.
